Uncharted – a fan film that’s as fun as it is compelling

Nathan Fillion delivers his characteristic snark and strangely competent fighting style in this fan film, which is not something I ever thought I’d want, but definitely something I enjoyed.

Directed by Allan Ungar, this short film came together when Fillion and Ungar met, had vegan thai food (I… can’t even) and decided that it’d be cool to work together on something. Why Uncharted? Ungar is a fan. Why Fillion? Um… for funsies, I guess.

So… what did I like?

Other than the stellar acting from all involved, the great lighting and cinematography… this short film was just so much fun. And yeah, that’s basically it. This short film won’t change your life. It won’t lead you to any serious thinking or emoting – to be honest it probably won’t even stick with you past the initial excitement. What it will do is take you on a gleefully light-hearted, occasionally action-packed and always entertaining ride into one of the most loved adventure games of our time.

Mood Rating: Burn some of your data bundle and half your lunch hour on this short film, and try not to let Nathan Drake become Captain Malcolm Reynolds in your mind.
